Unless you were hiding under a rock last week, you now know the name Naeem Khan. You know…the designer that created Michelle Obama’s ethereal strapless gown for the White House state dinner. I have to admit that I was not paying close attention to the Indian designer, at least not until the Obama effect took place last week. I googled Naeem Khan and discovered that he has a lower priced collection at Home Shopping Network. The gorgeous party dresses, skirts and tops, all bedazzled in sequins are reminiscent of the timeless ’80 party frocks. Which makes it appropriate for the Naeem Khan collection to be dubbed “Timeless.“

To Save a Life | All you have is You, Your Shoes and 72

Jimmy Choo and Elton John AIDS Foundation have launched a photo competition to support the launch of Project PEP, a charity collection that donates 25% of sales to the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa. The money goes towards providing the HIV-preventative treatment PEP (which must be taken within 72 hours of exposure to HIV) and counselling to victims of rape in South Africa, which has the highest count of rape in the world.

“We are women helping women and we are proud to continue our collaboration with the compelling and urgent initiatives of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and to provide a voice for under-privileged women in South Africa. Jimmy Choo will donate 25% of the net sales from Project PEP to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. With this funding, the Elton John AIDS Foundation can directly support the pioneering Simelela Rape Centre in Cape Town that was set up in 2005, with the mission to administer victims of abuse with the vital HIV preventative PEP medication (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) and provide the infrastructure for medical, counselling and legal support.

Jimmy Choo is asking you to take part in a new social networking concept which will feature a photo competition to generate awareness of the vital 72 hour time window.

The slogan for the campaign is ‘You, Your Shoes and 72’ and many of the winning images will be showcased at the global launch of Project PEP at Selfridges London on 29th October and at Jimmy Choo Project PEP events globally. Over 100 winners will be chosen to win products from the Project PEP range, with a Grand Prize offering the overall winner 7 pairs of shoes and 2 bags from Jimmy Choo.

Victoria Beckham Collection Denim

No other woman inducted into the unofficial pro athlete Wives & Girlfriends Club has been as controversial, loved, hated, admired and wanted more than former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. Equally known for her waif thin figure, the singer has turned her talents to designing clothing. The Victoria Beckham collection of frocks debuted this spring to rave reviews from Vogue and other fashion critics and why not? Even just a soccer game is a cause to dress up for, according to Posh. I fell in love with her clothing collection not only for its lady-like silhouettes but for the fact that women of all shapes and sizes can wear. The frocks are expensive but she took the time to include shape wear and corseting in each to make them figure flattering.

I wish I could say the same about her denim collection, which is meant for a size 4 and below. Ok so I’m exaggerating a bit. I bet the denim sizing goes up to a 10 or 12 but seriously, I am being frank when I say that I don’t think anyone above a size 6 or 8 looks good in skinny denim. I have girlfriends who are in the size 2 and 4 range but cannot fit their calves into skinny jeans. The Victoria Beckham denim collection is super cute. I mean they look fab on her and the model. I am also certain most socialites, actresses and models who rock them will look great but what about the average person? I have to give Posh kudos for strategically placed pieces of black to whittle down the thighs a bit more. I do love the denim though and if I were skinny enough to pull off the skinny jeans, I would consider wearing them.

I skipped the long lines at the stores this Black Friday and opted to get my cyber-shopping on. My go to place for fabulous finds at the best price is Gilt Groupe, which had a slew of items perfect for my gift giving needs. Currently for sale are clothing, jewelry, shoes, accessories and housewares that will make great gifts for someone special on your Christmas list. Most of my girlfriends love candles so I crossed tons of names off my list on the D.L. & Co. sample sale.
