Scentsational: Beyonce Heat Ultimate Elixir

31 Jul

Following the success of her debut fragrance, Heat, singer Beyonce Knowles will launch her second scent, Heat Ultimate Elixir, later this year. The new perfume, which launches September 20, will have similar notes as the original with spicy floral red vanilla orchid, Osmanthus petals, cedarwood, amber, vanilla and Tonka bean. The chanteuse says the new scent captures her private side. Does that mean this new fragrance evokes less Sasha Fierce and more Mrs. Sean Carter?

The singer says of the inspiration for her perfume:

“And as a very young girl, hearing her footsteps…her stilettos click, click, clicking on the hardwood floor and she wore a beautiful fragrance and she would walk past me and it would just stay in the room. It left a warm feeling every time I thought about her scent.

“I think about the icons that I respect and they all have their own fragrance so I thought it was time for me to have my own.”

Coach to debut new ‘Poppy’ Fragrance in July

1 Jun

Coach has a new fragrance set to release this summer called ‘Poppy’, described as a fruity floral scent. Coach fragrances have traditionally been sold in Coach stores but Poppy will break the tradition by being available in department stores and specialty fragrance boutiques.

Perfumers Karen Khoury of Estee Lauder, Reed Krakoff of Coach, and IFF developed the new Coach Poppy fragrance.

“Poppy [as an apparel and accessories line] is a more emotional line [than traditional Coach] and reaches a much broader consumer base than we ever imagined,” he said, noting that the free-spirited vibe translated well to both the fragrance bottle – a clear glass orb with a cap of Coach-style graffiti – and the outside box, which echoes the Coach graffiti in red and white.” [Coach]

The fragrance debuts in July and will retail for $60.
