Inside the Beauty Bag: Priori & Naturopathica Skincare

29 Jul
The beauty market is saturated with a slew of products that promise to reverse signs of aging and keep women looking forever young without going under the knife.  Sifting through anti-aging products is like looking for a needle in a haystack, frustrating and impossible at times.  As I slowly creep towards my 30s, I’ve trained myself to use the right products, in the right order and at the right time every single day.

A dermatologist once told me that starting an anti-aging regiment in my early 20s will ward off fine lines and wrinkles and prolong the superficial aging as much as humanly possible. For years, I was guilty of going to bed with makeup on after a night of partying. I neglected eye creams, masks, face polishes and facials and opted to use my money for shopping.  I was banking on the “black don’t crack” theory to keep me looking young.

A resolution for the new year, practice healthy skincare, prompted me to get involved in preventing the aging of my skin and take better care of it. For the past seven months, I’ve been washing my face twice a day, using exfoliators three times a week, eye creams twice a day and SPF for my face and lips. I would like to keep looking like I’m 21 and get carded each time I go to the bar until my 40s thank you very much. I very weary of the products I use on my face so it took me a while to get myself to try a new line of anti-aging products I received from Alison Brod PR on a trip to New York City.  I started using the products two months ago by incorporating them into my daily skin care routine.  The three new products are Naturopathica Oat Facial Polish, Priori Idebenone Superceuticals Age Defying Body Cream and the Moisturizing Facial Cream.

Naturopathica Oat Facial Polish is the gentlest scrub I’ve used in a long time.  Boasting natural ingredients like oats, jojoba beads and kernel oil, the scrub quickly goes to work removing all the impurities from my face, prepping it for my Alchimie Forever Kantic Brightening mask and the other moisturizing treatments in my skin care regiment.  A small squeeze of the product is all it takes to get the work started.  The Oat Facial Polish gently exfoliates my skin with oats beads while the creamy mix of apricot kernel oil, jojoba beads and meadowsweet combine to soothe my face.  The astringent properties of the meadowsweet acts as an anti-inflammatory that calms my skin.  I have extremely sensitive skin so this product is perfect for me.

I think of body moisturizers as thick formulas that are supposed to coat my skin for hours.  I didn’t know that light formulas, especially in the summer, also absorb into the skin and keep it moisturized without being greasy.  I’ve been keeping my skin super healthy this summer by making sure I’m properly hydrated, using sunscreen and moisturizing.  I decided to try the Superceuticals Idebenone Superceuticals Age Defying Body Cream because it is supposed to help fight signs of aging.  It “refirms, evens and even smooth the appearance of the skin, to improve the visible signs of aging.” For starters, my skin isn’t wrinkled but it could be firmer. The Age Defying Body Cream glides on smoothly and keeps my skin moisturized all day long. The cream is fragrant free so I can layer on perfume without it changing the scent.

The Priori Idebenone Superceuticals Moisturizing Face Cream is one of those products that every women should invest in.  I noticed a few fine lines around my eyes and laugh lines while examining my face in the mirror. I started using the Priori face cream immediately and have been doing so for two months now. The lines around my face aren’t as noticeable as they were when I first started using  the moisturizer, along with my other facial creams, of course.  Aside from the anti-aging benefits, I’ve noticed a big change in the clarity and suppleness of my skin.  I use it twice a day, once in the morning then again at night.
