Fight Night in DC

9 Nov

If you weren’t at the Washington Hilton last Thursday night for Fight Night, you better have been at the Ritz Carlton for the Knock Out Abuse Gala. Thursday night was the night to be in Washington, aside from Inauguration because celebs, socialites and athletes converged in our nation’s capital to raise money to fight against children’s cancer at the 20th Annual Fight Night. The girls were at the Ritz Carlton for the Knock Out Abuse Gala while the men and a few ladies gathered at the Hilton Washington for bourbon, cigars and boxing.

I was covering events for The Scene Bisnow but took the opportunity to don a chocolate frock for the festivities. With a cigar and my camera in hand, I headed for the boxing ring for an up close and personal view of the vigorous fight in the ring. Next to the ring was multi Grammy award winning singer and songwriter Kenneth Babyface Edmund’s. I was so smitten that I had to ask for a picture with him.

It wouldn’t be fight night without boxers. Sugar Ray Leonard was also there cheering on the boxers.

There were too many dashing guys in suits to count. Public Bar’s Tony Hudgins, Teatro Goldoni’s Michael Kosmides and Bill Dean and their friend having a blast.
