“I don’t know that I would be completely comfortable with a my-name fragrance. It feels like cheating, almost. It doesn’t seem like you’re creating anything,” says Justin Timberlake to Women’s Wear Daily about Givenchy PLAY and PLAY Intense.

Hey girls! Wanna go out and PLAY? Givenchy launched its newest men’s fragrance PLAY and guess who is the face of the new scent? Not other than the suave Southern gent Justin Timberlake, who according to Givenchy, embodies the PLAY lifestyle that is freedom of action and movement. Whoa! What exactly does that mean? It’s a modern scent that reflects today’s man, who is rich in ideas, emotions, intelligence and style. I guess JT was the right guy for the job.

“We were looking for a man who’s recognized all over the world, someone new to the world of perfumery, and with great seductive potential. Most importantly, we needed to find a man who could embody the modern elegance specific to the Givenchy brand as well as all the facets of Play,” explains Pamela Baxter, president & CEO of LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics N.A. and President and CEO of Christian Dior Inc. to WWD.

PLAY is the creation of Givenchy’s Emilie Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzac with ‘help’ from Givenchy’s ‘brand nose’ Francoise Donche. PLAY is not too overpowering but makes its statement with top notes bergamot, mandarin orange, bitter orange, grapefruit, Caribbean amyris wood, black pepper, coffee flower, vetiver and patchouli.

PLAY Intense less citrusy and richer. It contains top notes bergamot, mandarin, Caribbean amyris wood, pink pepper, coffee flower, labdanum, tonka bean, vetiver and patchouli.
