Isaac Mizrahi Spring Collection for Liz Claiborne

8 Jan

Last January, Liz Claiborne nabbed Isaac Mizrahi to lead the dormant women’s brand into the 21st century in a move that was praised by critics as smart and lucrative. A year later, Mizrahi has unveiled his first line for Liz Claiborne hoping to breath new life into the ailing brand. The cheap and chic designer was banking more than $300 million each year for Target but separated from the company due to conflict of interest – Liz Claiborne is carried by Target’s mainstream competitors like Dillard’s and Macys.

The fun, flirty and casual looks from Mizrahi’s new collection for Clairborne is a just what the company needs to reposition itself as a go-to brand not just for career women but for a younger audience looking for classically casual clothes for work or leisure. Mizrahi delivers a mixed collection with every woman in mind. Bold colors, well tailored jackets, comfortable maxi dresses in fun prints round out the spring collection. In an ailing economy where clothing brands need something new in order to capture the attention of shoppers, Liz Claiborne‘s new image as being for the modern woman is a welcomed surprise – or maybe not since Mizrahi always delivers.
