Tyra Banks Poses as Michelle Obama for Harper’s Bazaar

5 Aug

Tyra Banks is September’s cover model for Harper’s Bazaar. The issue is being heralded as one of the best Harper’s Bazaar Fall covers in years. Tyra was given free reign on her editorial feature where she envisions herself as Michelle Obama in the Oval Office. After countless appearances by many politicians on her talk show, Tyra Banks has settled on her candidate, Barack Obama. In her interview with Bazaar, Tyra gives readers a candid take on what she would do as first lady in the white house and even professes that there is nothing wrong with the first lady eating fried chicken in front of the cameras. [Bazaar]

Tyra on meeting Barack Obama for the first time.
“My friend Kimora Lee Simmons and I were walking around the ball. We had on these big Cinderella dresses — hardly anyone wore white tie, but we both did — and then we see Senator Obama. He goes, ‘Hi, ladies,’ and I told him, ‘I want to congratulate you on that speech. It was gorgeous.’ At the time, there was just a hint of him running for president. But then Kimora starts talking crazy, just totally embarrassing me. She walks away, and I’m like, ‘Senator Obama, I have to apologize for my friend. She’s almost like family, I’ve known her since I was 17 years old, and with family, you love them but sometimes you want to say that you’re not related to them.’ And he said, ‘What are you talking about? You don’t think that I could be down and talk crazy like that? You think politicians are all stiff and can’t relate? Come on, girl.'”

On the First Lady being confident enough to eat fried chicken in front of the camera.
“Oh, I want her to not take herself too seriously. She’d need to know how to take a fierce picture but at the same time be able to eat fried chicken, have grease on her fingers, and be okay with getting photographed like that, too. I’d want her to feel like every child in America is hers — to have a true connection.”

Raffia Tassel Clutch by Anya Hindmarch

5 Aug

Summer is quickly winding down but that isn’t stopping me from buying some of the season’s hot trends. The Raffia Tassel Clutch by Anya Hindmarch is a steal at just $370. The purple jewels and gold accents on the clutch gives it a very lux feel. Hindmarch usually makes very expensive and very good quality handbags and clothing so seeing this purse at such a great price is a rarity. This bag is very whimsical but sophisticated. The tassel on the flap makes the clutch a little playful but understated. The Raffia Tassel Clutch by Anya Hindmarch is available online at Vivre.

Maria Bello’s One-Shoulder Grecian Look

5 Aug

Actress Mario Bello looked insanely radiant at the premiere of her new movie, “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer.” Bello’s one shoulder shin-length Grecian inspired dress was flawless. The actress paired her summer white with black sandal heels and minimal jewelry, except for the huge rock on her finger.

Here’s a similar look inspired by Maria Bello. The one-shoulder dress is by Yigal Azrouël and the Studded T-bar sandals are by Burberry.
